SPORT FISHING:Bill fishing boats are available
for billfishing (marlin, sailfish) at the hotel. Equipment and
bait are extra.Ý You need to make reservations the night
before you go.Ý You can go for a full or 3/4 day.Ý
Boats take 2-6 people. Lunch can be provided by the hotel.Ý
(Have plenty of sun protection.)Ý You can also go after
dorado, tuna and other varieties when the bill fishing slows
down. Ponga fishing Pongas (small open boats) can be rented for
trolling or casting.Ý Fish to catch include dorado (mahi
mahi), yellowtail tuna, rooster fish, yahoo, barracuda, snapper,
cabrilla and other varieties.Ý Equipment can be rented
but you may want to bring your own if you want high quality equipment.Ý
Lures are limited and you may want to bring some if you do not
want to fish with bait. For pongas, shorter rods with spin or
level winding reels strung with 20 -40lb line are good.Ý
Fly rods (9wt.) can be used although most captains are not familiar
with fly fishing techniques but they are learning.Ý Green
and yellow poppers and streamers are best for dorado.Ý
We hope to devlop some flyfishing "experts".Ý
The fishing right off the hotel is excellent. Surfishing Surf
fishing is excellent within an easy walk from the hotel.Ý
An 8-12 foot light rod (steelhead or surf) is recommended with
.5 oz. to 1.25 oz. lures. You can tryÝ 5/8 oz. to 1.25
oz. Krocodile or Kastmaster lures and similar silver or gold
spoons.Ý Many other lures work.Ý Roosterfish, jack
crevalle, sea bass, ladyfish, snapper, needlefish, and many other
small to good sized fish can be caught close to shore. Very light
tackle can be used for small fish close into the beach.Ý
This is an interesting diversion for days when boat fishing is
not good or you just want to spend a short time fishing.Ý
Flyfishing from the beach can be excellent early in the morning
and late in the day.Ý Use a #6-7 rod with Lefty's Deceivers
and other sardine imitators. Rock fishing Many fish are caught
off the rocks right in front of the hotel on light tackle.Ý
Standard rock fishing techniques can be used - casting or still
fishing.Ý Small lures, plastic squid,Ý bait, cheese,
bread - almost anything will attract rock fish which can be taken
to the kitchen to make fresh delightful ceviche for the cocktail
hour. SWIMMING:Choose between our fresh water
pool adjacent to the cantina or a rejuvinating dip in the sea.
Sea temperatures range from 85 degrees in fall to 68 degrees
in the spring. SNORKELING AND SCUBA DIVING:The rocks offshore reveal
a teeming underwater life of fascinating flora and fauna spanning
the spectrum of the rainbow. No wet suits needed here in the
comfort of our warm sea. SAILING, SKIING AND BOATING:Guests may explore the waters
around our point in canoes, rowboats and sailing dinghies. There's
a ski boat to tow water skiers. |
