Choose From These Baja Activities:

Sportfishing
Sportfishing in the Sea of Cortez or Baja Pacific is simply spectacular! Large game fish abound around the azure blue waters on both sides of the Baja peninsula. Species include but are absolutely never limited to tuna, marlin, sailfish, swordfish, sea bass, wahoo, yellowtail, dorado, and many more! Fish pangas, super pangas, mini cruisers, cruisers, and/or yachts.
Baja California has long been known to savvy anglers as one of the best fishing destinations in the world. Cabo San Lucas is the home of the richest billfish tournaments anywhere and attracts anglers from all over the world. Loreto cannot be topped for dorado and yellowtail action and the biggest wahoo ever taken on rod and reel was caught just off Loreto.

La Paz, capital of Baja California Sur, is located on a huge natural bay. Protected by nearby mountains and sheltered by the El Mogote peninsula, La Paz really lives up to its name: The Peace. The fishing out of La Paz and nearby beaches is anything but peaceful. Yellowfin tuna are taken all year at Las Arenas. Tuna to 100 pounds are hot starting in March at the Bajo. Yellowtail to 50 pounds are taken from all areas in February through May. Wahoo are seen in the winter months off Isla Cerralvo. Blue marlin move in around May and stay through September. Black marlin are found during the summer months at the Bajo and uncountable numbers of striped marlin invade the area from March through September. Dorado can be so thick that they are sometimes referred to as "vermin" by the angler targeting other species. World record rooster fish are taken off the beaches just out of La Paz.

Nowhere in the world can you find better fishing than at Baja's East Cape. Marlin, tuna, dorado, rooster fish, yellowtail, amberjack, wahoo and just about any sought after game fish imaginable are all found here. In the winter, the billfish migrate from the Sea of Cortez to the Pacific Ocean and pile up just off Magdalena Bay. Reports of 30 tailers at a time or 100 knock downs in one day are common. Just outside Magdalena Bay, the areas such as the Ridge, Uncle Sam Bank, Thetis Bank and Potato Bank and farther out Alijos Rocks and Alijos Bank have long been known to Southern California long range boats as one of the most fertile areas in the world for wahoo, tuna, dorado and grouper.

The fishing is great all year in Baja Sur. The fish just move from one area to another and the angler only has to match the time of the year to the area where the fish are. Baja California Sur, the best fishing in the world!
