Islands of La Paz
Visitors can go to their hotel travel agencies or directly to the operator to take a tour of the local islands. It will be an unforgettable experience. During the voyage, travelers will encounter dolphins, whales, and perhaps even gigantic manta rays. They will be able to enjoy the scenery of the Sea of Cortes and the exhilerating activity of sea birds on small islands.
Isla Espiritu Santo: Located at the most northern corner of La Paz
Bay, about 29 kilometers fromthe city, one can find this island which 19 kms. long and 5 kms. wide. It features beautiful small bays among which the most outstanding are: San Gabriel, La Ballena, La Gallinita, El Candelero, and La Partida, which is preferred by ecologists, scuba divers, navigators, and kayakers. It has beautiful white sand beaches. This island is the habitat of a large variety of migratory and marine birds, reptiles -- two species being endemic to the area -- rodents and amphibians.
Isla Partida: When the tide is low, it connects this island to Espiritu Santo Island. It has the best places to practice snorkeling and fishing, and it features two beautiful small bays: El Cardonal and Ensenada Grande.
Los Islotes: Here are two small islands located North of Partida Island. They are excellent for scuba diving and snorkeling. Their greatest attraction is the large colony of friendly sea lions.
