Beaches of La Paz
Near La Paz, there are beautiful beaches, all of which have soft white sand. Most of them have some type of services, from "palapas" (palm
thatched huts) and toilets only, to restaurants, bars, marinas, personal water craft rentals, as well as kayak, pedal boat, and snorkel rentals.
South of the city of La Paz, the following beaches are located: Comitan (18 kms.) and Las Hamacas (15 kms.). Northward, going
down the road to Pichilingue, the following beaches can be found: Palmira (2.5 kms.), Coromuel (4.3 kms.), Caimancito (6 kms.), El Tesoro (13 kms.), and Pichilingue (17 kms.). Here an important wharf is located as well as the terminal of the ferries. Farther north, there are also other beautiful beaches such as Balandra (23 kms.), an outstanding beach excellent
for snorkeling, El Tecolote (26 kms.), and El Coyote (36 kms.). A bit far but well worth the trip is the Las Arenas beach near Los Planes. It has great shore fishing, beachcombing for coral
and shells, and features a beached shipwreck, a lighthouse, an abandoned hotel (possibly under reconstruction now), and great views of the Isla Cerralvo.
